I attended a networking event immediately afterwards and I was able to put a lot of what I learned in the Workshop into practice and it really worked!!
I used the fact I'd been on a Networking Skills Workshop that morning as a conversation opener, which was brill! I really found it worked for me, letting people know it was something I didn't have a great deal of experience in and had lots of people then talk about how it was for them! I also had a good look at the delegate list, targeted the people I wanted to speak to, approached them politely and asked them about their business.
As a result, I've had invites to collaborate on HR and training projects, an accountant who is going to put me in touch with a funding specialist and a marketing guy, who likes what I am wanting to do and has offered to help me. How good is that?
